Welcome!

My name is Shannon Cunningham, and I am currently finishing up my bachelor's degree in Journalism from San Diego State University. I'm an aspiring sports writer with the dream of writing for a professional sports team, either in the U.S. or abroad. I've been obsessed with sports my entire life, with baseball being my favorite. Being a student-athlete at San Diego State has given me the best of both worlds experience as a potential sports reporter. With my work, I want to give readers an inside look at student-athletes and an understanding of the inner workings of college athletics, because in reality, they are humans with passions just like us. In this portfolio, I'm highlighting the impact of the NCAA's new ruling on revenue sharing towards student-athletes, the NIL space and Olympic sports at San Diego State University. This story will illustrate the importance of the pipeline of Olympic sports at the college level, all while highlighting how this impacts colleges around the country. I want to give a voice to these athletes so that the San Diego community can understand what this means for student-athletes around the country. Please feel free to check out some of my work. Thank you for being here!
